What We Do
Summer Immersion Trip
U.S. teachers spend their Summers in the schools of Rwanda. Unfortunately the Covid epidemic has waylaid CR's U.S Teacher Summer Immersion program. . However, we are ramping up our efforts to send Annapolis-based teachers back to Rwanda in the Summer of 2022. If you are a teacher and interested in finding out more about this program please contact us!
Teacher Exchange
Rwandan teachers are invited to the U.S. to receive hands-on experience with new teaching techniques and with the technology! This annual exchange usually takes place in April. However, because of Covid the trip has been cancelled the past two years. Hopefully in 2023 this exchange program can be reinstituted.
Pen Pals
As the students read letters from their international pen pals, you can see the wheels spinning as they process what their new friends are sending them. Imagine a Rwandan student (or teacher for that matter) trying to figure out what this game of lacrosse is all about, or what it’s like to compete on a sailing team. Then, there are American students hearing about soccer in Rwanda, and living in such close contact with the monkeys and gorillas for which Rwanda is famous! A pen pals program already has been established between elementary-aged students in Annapolis and Rwanda, and the results have been wonderful!
Computer Donations
Over 150 donated laptops are now in the hands of APACOPE teachers. Projectors and flash drives, along with other school supplies have also been donated. Our unwanted or unneeded technology can find a second life in Rwanda. Please consider donating your unused, still-functioning technology for use in East Africa.
Old, but working Laptops, Projectors, iPad’s, Tablets, iPhones, Smartphones, and flash drives can all be repurposed for our Rwandan partners. Please be assured that we scrub them all clean of data before passing them on. To donate or receive more information, please contact us. Thank you for your generosity.
