Steve Hays

  

Steve Hays is the founder of Connect Rwanda and responsible for running the day to day operations.  Steve spent a year in Rwanda in 2014 with his family. Profoundly impacted by his year of volunteer work in Kigali (Rwanda’s capital), and upon returning home to Annapolis, Steve founded Connect Rwanda. Connect Rwanda is a non-profit whose primary objectives are to bring technology to the classrooms of Rwanda, promote teacher growth and cultural understanding through collaboration, and to foster goodwill in the World.

His volunteer resume over the years has included that of treasurer at the Light House Shelter, site coordinator for Arundel House of Hope’s Winter Relief Homeless Shelter, Soccer coach Annapolis High, and an elder at First Presbyterian. Currently, he teaches ESL (English as a Second Language) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and currently leads a Czech/American partnership at First Presbyterian Church.

He has made a career out of helping families, and small businesses manage money and finances as a financial planner. He has a degree in Economics from St. Mary’s College in Southern Maryland, and a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) from the American College of Financial Planning. In his spare time . . .  he adhere’s to a strict exercise regimen, enjoys travel as a tool to learn about different cultures, keeping up with his two college-aged kids, and playing men’s soccer.
